What is a click speed test?

A click speed test, also known as a CPS (clicks per second) test, is a popular game measure of how quickly a person can perform mouse clicks within a given amount of time. Players must use their mouse to rapidly click on a designated button as many times as they can in either 10 seconds or 5 seconds, depending on the version of the game. The result is measured by how many clicks are made in the given time period and is described in terms of clicks per second.

The click speed test originated from online gamers who wanted to compare their "click speed" abilities, although all gamers use this ability in some way or another. The ability to "click fast" is an essential skill for any gamer; it not only helps you perform faster but also allows you to target opponents more accurately. Of course, with some games such as arcade experiences and shooters, speed and accuracy do not necessarily go hand-in-hand but still rely heavily on players' clicking proficiency.

In recent years, the click speed test has become increasingly popular among gamers and non-gamers alike who find themselves competing against each other in seeking out who can achieve the highest number of clicks in 10 seconds—or 5 if they go for that version which requires twice the amount effort and mouse movement. To be successful at achieving a high number of clicks requires practice and lots of it—players must train to move their mouse hand quickly, with quick reflexes that allow them to hit their target within milliseconds (the length of one frame).

The popularity of the click speed test has grown significantly over recent years due to its availability online and across gaming forums, Reddit threads and such like. Furthermore, there are dozens of websites dedicated completely to testing your 'CLICK SPEED' which often come with other features such as leaderboards & stats so competitors can monitor how well they're doing against others around the world - there may even be bragging rights up for grabs!
